A medieval English copper-alloy jetton (counter) from the reign of Edward III (1327-1377). The obverse shows a crowned king seated on a throne and holding a sword. The reverse shows a cross with floral motifs in each quarter. The obverse has been centrally pierced to ensure that it could not be silver-plated and passed off as real currency.
A similar example was found in Kent, recorded on the Portable Antiquities Scheme (KENT-E143B8) and dated to 1327-1357.
