Lead token with cross and pellets design

, , ,

A lead token with the common ‘cross and pellets’ design, 16th-18th century. The design is believed to derive from earlier English silver coins, especially of the 13th and 14th centuries.

This lead token, though worn, was the first I found on the Thames foreshore.
