Naval button with anchor motif

A cast pewter naval or Royal Marines uniform button with beaded edge and motif of a fouled anchor, 18th or early 19th century. These are common finds on the Thames foreshore. A similar example is recorded on the Portable Antiquities Scheme (SUR-6B1027) and dated 1770-1800.
